The Early years (Nursery & Reception) program emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy focusing in language, reading, writing, communication and foundation in Mathematics. Besides that the teaching and learning will also focus on fine and gross motor skills, personal development, creative and emotional and physical development. The teaching and learning approach will be focused to achieve the above outcome using fun as the main element in the deliverables.

Our Early Years programme is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for England, which is also enhanced with language training in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. These languages are introduced to students through role plays, music, art, dancing and story-telling and experiential learning.

Key Stage 1 ( Years 1 and 2 ) & Key Stage 2 ( Years 3 to 6 )


Our main focus is to develop the literacy and numeracy skills in addition to the core subjects. Thematic approaches are used to learn Humanities, Science and the Expressive Arts. Our primary curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, supported by language education in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

In Key Stages 1 and 2, students are introduced to a wide range of subjects and studies where learning is hands-on, exciting and interesting. Our teaching and learning focuses a lot in engaging students to participate and ask questions boosting their confident to express themselves. Teachers provide stimulating activities to build up students’ confidence and harness their natural curiosity. Students achieve high levels of knowledge, skills and understanding whilst enjoying the learning process. It is at this stage where they grow into active and inquisitive learners, able to voice their own ideas with confidence.

The programme follows the National Curriculum for England, enhanced by international themes and languages in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Key Stage 3 marks the beginning of Secondary education for Years 7 to 11. This next three years of learning will continue to develop further the subject taught during Key stage 2. At this stage, specialist subject teachers will be teaching according to scheduled timetable. Our curriculum prepares school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.

Key Stage 3

This stage offers a two-year IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) course that culminates in examinations administered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

The IGCSE qualification is highly recognized worldwide, and places importance in content knowledge, application and skills. It is the equivalent of SPM, however with IGCSE, students graduate a year earlier than their SPM counterparts. During this stage, students will focus on a selection of subjects that include the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science, and as well as continuing Key Stage 3 subjects. New subjects such as Business Studies, Economics, English Literature and Additional Mathematics are offered.

After IGCSE, students are able to transition into pre-university or foundation courses offered by any other colleges around the world.

Extra curricular activities form the 2nd most important part of the Academy life after academic lessons. Students are actively engaged in a wide range of ECA divided into three main areas :


Key Stage and Year Group Placements

Year group placements upon admissions are determined from the results of placement test assessments and interviews. We carry out progressive formative and summative assessments at the end of each term culminating in parents getting a progress report for their child and feedback from teachers through Parent Teacher Conferences. Qualified students are allowed to jump year levels based on their academic results at the end of year assessments and their maturity levels.

What kind of curriculum do you use at the school?

School fees do not cover lunch, textbooks, uniforms, stationeries, technology resources, art materials, co-curricular activities and workshops, field trips, external examination fees and competitions.

If our child faces difficulties in the English language, do you have any English language support programme to help?

Yes, we offer an English Support Programme (ESP) which is designed to support students who need to develop fluency and competency in English in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing and comprehension.

How often will I be updated about my child’s progress?

LEO INTERNATIONAL provides every student a Communication Book that also serves as a daily communication tool for the student, teachers and parents. Parents can continuously keep track of their child’s progress using this book. Parents will also be formally updated on their child’s progress three times in a year via Parent Teacher Meeting held at the end of each term. This is where parents get their child’s academic progress. Student personal character development reports will be conducted and notified at the end of the 4th term.

What is the school's approach towards student discipline?

We believe in setting clear boundaries for students at our school. All students are required to adhere to a clear code of conduct, which reflects our school values of being respectful of each other. The school policy dictates that corporal punishment will not be practiced.

Does the school provide transportation services?

We do not provide school transportation for students to and from school but we can provide a list of external transporters from the school administration.

How many students are there in each class?

We practice smaller classroom concept whereby the number of students in each class is no more than 20. This provides a far superior engaging learning and teaching environment for the students.

Our teachers have a minimum qualification of Bachelor’s degree and some have Master’s as well.

What are the security measures taken at the school?
